AMAZON PRIME PArtnership FAQs
The Chosen will always be released for free on The Chosen App. Viewers will only need a Prime Video subscription if they would like to view season 5 before its release on The Chosen App.
Prime Video has been the most proactive streaming service in attracting new audiences for the show: once they began streaming the series, The Chosen quickly became a top ten show on the platform for 100 days, attracting millions of new viewers and fans. As a globally recognized leader in the streaming industry, this new partnership with Prime Video is a testament to The Chosen’s exceptional production value, quality, and widespread fan audience.
Amazon has built one of the largest audiences of quality entertainment content and placing The Chosen in that ecosystem gives millions the chance to experience the show, people who may have never otherwise discovered the show, connecting with new viewers who may have never traditionally engaged with The Chosen Series. Because of this exclusive deal with Amazon, Amazon is committed to pour in more marketing dollars, focused attention, and resources to promote the show around the world. Before, when The Chosen did not have an EXCLUSIVE streaming partner, and the show appeared on multiple platforms, streaming services weren't incentivized to promote it. Amazon is now backing the marketing of the show to reach new viewers with this exclusive deal through strategic marketing placement and show promotion.
The production of the show has always been and will continue to be made possible by supporters from around the world. Funding from the Prime Video partnership will subsidize the expenses of globally distributing the show and will be directed towards marketing and advertising to reach new audiences. We still need your support to produce, translate, and make the show free in The Chosen App.
Yes! The first four seasons of The Chosen will be available in The Chosen App in dozens of languages, and each subsequent season will be released and available on The Chosen App for free, after an initial exclusive period on Amazon. Our commitment to our fan base from the beginning has been that the show should be free for anyone who wants to watch, and that hasn’t changed.
The Chosen will remain under the creative control of creator and director Dallas Jenkins at 5&2 Studios with theological oversight governed by Come and See. Prime Video will not have any creative control and will serve solely as the exclusive streaming service for the series in the United States (and a non-exclusive streaming service in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, UK, and Latin America), along with collaborating with us to promote the content through marketing efforts.
